'STRIKING SHIFT' AS POLL SHOWS MIGRATION PRIORITY ISSUE FOR SCOTS
Scottish Daily Express
|August 26, 2025
A NEW survey shows immigration has surged up the priority list of people across Scotland, with the issue now set to play a major role in next year’s Holyrood elections.
The polling found a “striking shift” in the public’s views, with more than one in five (21%) saying immigration was now a top-three issue facing the country. The result marks a steep rise from the 16% recorded in May, and just 4% in a similar survey in 2023. It comes ahead of a new deportation plan to be announced by Reform UK leader Nigel Farage today, with illegal migration soaring to record levels under hapless Keir Starmer's Labour government.
Mr Farage is set to head to Scotland tomorrow for another press conference as the party aims to transform the Scottish political landscape.
Glasgow Reform councillor Thomas Kerr said: "This poll is no shock to those of us who live in Scotland's forgotten working-class communities.
People have seen this coming for years, but until now, they've had no one to speak up for them.
"It's why Reform UK is surging in Scotland.
