Martin's determined to lure fans back to Ibrox

SOFA IT'S NOT BEEN ENOUGH

UNDER PRESSURE Russell Martin highlighted the 'intense environment' of life in Glasgow for new Gers players

THERE aren't as many eyes peering down from the stands as usual but Russell Martin admits his Rangers players must prove they can cope with the intense Ibrox gaze of scrutiny.

The lumbering Light Blues have resembled rabbits caught in the headlights this season while allowing opponents to pepper Jack Butland's goal with shots.

Some fans have clearly seen enough, with 18,000 seats left empty during Saturday's home win over Hibernian - a cup tie overshadowed by pre-match protests outside the stadium.

Swathes more will remain unfilled this evening when Gers kickoff their Europa League quest at home to Genk.

It says a lot about the current mood of rebellion around Ibrox that a fanbase that has grown to adore the annual Thursday night thrill-ride across the continent is opting to sit on sofas at home.

And Martin knows if his team are to lure the fans back, they'll have to prove they can stare opponents in the eye and not be the first to blink.
