SNP mistakes spread to winter super flu virus

LAST winter saw the highest number of flu deaths in Scotland since 1979, with hospitals across the country struggling to cope.

The full picture only emerged many weeks later, thanks in part to research by the charity Asthma + Lung UK Scotland. It came after SNP ministers removed free flu jabs from all 50 to 64-year-olds, sending the “wrong message” that the disease was less serious.

Speaking back in April, the charity urged the Scottish Government to reinstate the vaccination for everyone in that age group, as happened last year in Northern Ireland.
