SEB'S ALWAYS BEEN THE TALK OF THE TOUNE

SEB TOUNEKTI knocked back the bright lights of the world’s biggest leagues as a youngster — and the Celtic new boy reckons it’s all been worth it.

- By Ryan McDonald

All roads, after all, have led to Paradise.

It’s been a helluva journey for the dazzling wideman, who only turned 23 in July.

After kicking off his quest for stardom with Norwegian minnows Tromsdalen, the promising attacker was lured to Eliteserien top dogs Bodo/Glimt in 2020.

But after struggling to force his way into Kjetil Knutsen’s side, Tounekti began to lose his way.

Underwhelming loan stints at Groningen and Norwegian second-tier side Ranheim followed, before his career finally caught fire with Haugesund.

Three successful years there earned Tounetki a £1million switch to Sweden with Hammarby in February.

And it took just six months for the fleet-footed winger to pop up on Celtic’s radar — convincing them to shell out £5.5m.

It’s early days, of course, but based on Tounekti’s eye-catching debut at Kilmarnock, Celts have unearthed another diamond.
