Scots tourist is burned as gas blast destroys B&B in Rome

A SCOTS tourist has been left seriously injured after a gas explosion destroyed the guest house where he was staying in Rome.
Victim Grant Paterson has reportedly been left with severe burns after the tragedy at the weekend.
The accident happened just days after he had posted a message online stating: "This should be a good week... if I don't get killed in some ungodly way..."
The explosion was in the Monteverde area of the Italian capital at about 8.30am on Saturday.

Mr Paterson, who is 54 and from East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, was pulled out of the ruins conscious but is said to have suffered third-degree burns to 75% of his body, according to news site Roma Today.
He is understood to be receiving treatment at the Sant'Eugenio hospital in the city.
