Scientists 'switch off' pancreatic cancer

SCIENTISTS have found a gene that helps pancreatic cancer spread - then switched it off, leading to longer survival times in mice.

They are hopeful their findings could lead to drugs which prolong patients' lives.

Almost 11,000 people in the UK are diagnosed with the disease each year, more than 60% of them at late stage when survival rates are grim.
