Brave wife of Sir Chris Hoy gives exclusive interview on cancer and MS anguish

- By Tom Bryant

SARRA OPENS UP ABOUT DOUBLE BATTLE

THE courageous wife of Scots Olympic great Sir Chris Hoy has spoken for the first time of how they are dealing with their health ordeal.

Lady Sarra said the couple resolved to stay positive and draw strength from the people around them - including their two young children. She told daytime TV queen Lorraine Kelly, above, of their family life and how it has kept them focused on living for the moment.

Lady Sarra spoke out to launch a fitness campaign to improve mental wellbeing at a time when it has become key to coping with life's struggles.

imageShe tells Lorraine: “With kids, you don’t get a chance - there’s no time to stop and have a day in bed, you just don’t get that opportunity. The children are everything for us — and our family that surrounds us are everything.”

LADY Sarra Hoy has spoken movingly about the health battles she and husband Chris face.

Last year, Sir Chris, a 48-year-old six-time Olympic gold medallist, revealed he had terminal prostate cancer, and shortly after, his wife was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

Now, Lady Sarra has opened up to ITV's Lorraine about the immediate aftermath of their diagnoses and how they have both remained strong for the sake of their children Chloe, seven, and Callum, 10.

Lady Sarra said: "You just don't sleep. Everything is awful.

"It was about trying to control what I could and I just thought, I can't do anything about cancer, I can't do anything about MS. I can't control any of that.
