And with Rohl’s side currently embroiled in a fight for the title, he says knocking back bids shows their intent.

He hopes that eventually the likes of Chermiti might make the club serious money.

But ahead of tonight's Europa League tie against Porto - and just five days before the transfer window closes - Rohl said: “It's about both (player trading and signing to win).

“You have to strengthen your squad. You also have to improve and develop players for the next level. This is clear.

“And of course, if a bigger club comes then you should make the deal.

“But if you have the ambitions we have then it’s also important to strengthen the squad with the right players.”

The thought of Chermiti making Rangers a healthy profit was unthinkable just a matter of weeks ago.
