Rail union's chief 'backed pro-Russian militia boss'

THE new boss of the most powerful rail union has come under fire for supporting a pro-Putin militia chief.
Eddie Dempsey replaced Mick Lynch as head of the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers last Friday.
He has refused to apologise for his glowing obituary of assassinated rebel leader Alexei Mozgovoy after a visit to the Ukrainian Donbas region in 2015, seized by President Vladmir Putin's Russia.
The ex-Tube driver described the former commander of the Russian-installed separatist Luhansk People's Republic in Ukraine as a "charismatic anti-fascist". He also attacked the Ukrainian government as "Western puppets".
