Peggie lawyer blasts 'repugnant' actions by NHS health board

A HEALTH board’s actions during an employment tribunal have been labelled “repugnant” by a top lawyer.

The comment was made as the inquiry into NHS Fife’s handling of the case involving Sandie Peggie draws to a close.

Taxpayers are being charged hundreds of thousands of pounds to defend NHS Fife and Dr Beth Upton.

They face allegations that they unlawfully harassed Ms Peggie due to the nurse having gender critical beliefs.

She was suspended from work after confronting the trans medic for using the women’s changing room.

Yesterday, Naomi Cunningham summarised the case for Judge Sandy Kemp by stating the health board embarked on a “witch hunt” against her client.

This was, the lawyer claimed, for speaking out against the board’s “deluded” application of gender self-identification and allowing men into female single-sex spaces.
