NOREN ADMITS SHOCK AT VICE ROLE HONOUR

ALEX NOREN says he was stunned when Europe's Ryder Cup skipper Luke Donald made him the final piece of his Bethpage jigsaw.

Noren didn't make the squad as a playing member despite winning the British Masters 10 days ago, but he will fill a crucial role having been named one of the five vice-captains for New York.

The 43-year-old Swede joins Francesco and Edoardo Molinari, Thomas Bjorn and Jose Maria Olazabal in the backroom team.

Noren said: “It was a big shock when I found out, I didn't expect it at all. I want to bring a good attitude to the team room. Bring some knowledge. I've been in this game a long time.
