BEN GANNON-DOAK has warned that nobody should be getting “carried away" now that Scotland are guaranteed at least a play-off spot in their bid to reach the World Cup.

Steve Clarke's side have a genuine chance of ending their absence from the global stage since 1998.

But their laboured 2-1 win over Group C minnows Belarus at Hampden on Sunday suggested it will be a tall order to usurp leaders Denmark to finish top and secure automatic qualification for next summer's finals in North America.

If the Scots finish runners-up to take them into the playoff route then they would need to win back-to-back one-off ties against two opponents to claim their place at the 2026 World Cup.

And 19-year-old winger Gannon-Doak, above, knows there is much work to do before the Tartan Army would have any real cause for celebration.
