Derek's Killie exit by the book

DEREK MCINNES is comfortable with the nature of his Kilmarnock departure as he prepares to return to Rugby Park with his table-topping Hearts side.

Some Killie fans turned against McInnes in the penultimate game of last season after it emerged he was on his way to Tynecastle and it was soon agreed he would not take charge of the final match.

The former St Johnstone, Bristol City and Aberdeen manager has Hearts sitting on 19 points after seven William Hill Premiership games as they get set to face Stuart Kettlewell's Killie on Saturday.

McInnes admitted: "I was disappointed I never got the chance to say goodbye properly.

"I get the emotion of it all and how quickly it turned towards the back end of the season, but I can look myself in the mirror and say I did everything right by Killie.
