JON RAHM admitted nerves got the better of him as his late collapse allowed ice-cool Scottie Scheffler to win his first US PGA Championship.

Ryder Cup star Rahm took the fight to the world No.1 on a final day at Quail Hollow that many expected to be a procession.

But after moving level early in the back nine, Rahm then dramatically collapsed, dropping five shots over the last three holes.

The dreaded ‘Green Mile’ chewed him up and spat him back out with back-to-back double bogeys on the final two holes, pushing him all the way down to a tie for eighth — costing him an extra $1million in prize money in the process.
