Nats rapped over NHS mail bill despite app rollout

THE Scottish Government has been blasted for failing to bring Scotland’s NHS into the 21st century leading to huge bills for cash-strapped boards.

While NHS England has an app for patients to see medical records and book appointments, this will not fully roll out here until 2030.

Research by the Scottish Tories revealed health boards are forking thousands on private couriers to deliver routine patient letters.

‘These could be sent digitally, but the right infrastructure has not been set up. According to freedom of information requests, nearly £437,000 was spent on letters, but the true cost is probably more than double this as the majority of health boards refused to provide figures.
