Under-fire Wilf earns respite as his new system clicks into 30-shot overdrive to bury Dons

- BY MICHAEL GANNON

WILFRIED NANCY is determined to make huge changes at Celtic - but he had a couple of familiar old heroes to thank for buying him some much-needed breathing space.

The under-fire Hoops boss finally got his first victory after seeing off Aberdeen in dramatic late fashion.

But he wasn't half put through the wringer.

Celtic could have been SIX up on the Dons with countless missed sitters and the post clattered THREE times.

But they only had the one thanks to Benjamin Nygren's first-half opener.

Aberdeen down to 10 men after Dylan Lobban's red in first-half stoppage-timehung on for grim life but incredibly struck back with 16 minutes left as sub Kenan Bilalovic buried under Kasper Schmeichel on the break.

Nancy was heading for more pain until Kieran Tierney pounced at the back post to nod in Colby Donovan's deep cross with just two minutes to go.

And James Forrest made it 17 scoring seasons on the bounce when he buried Callum McGregor's cut-back in injury time to seal it.

No one could claim it wasn't deserved - with Celts racking up more than 30 shots on goal for the new gaffer.

It was a fright but the Hoops got their rewards in a frantic finale to cut the gap on Hearts back to six points.

Here's the five big talking points from Parkhead....

NANCY'S WRIGGLE ROOM

Nancy had the much-talked about tactics board back in business-and this time it did the trick.

The Frenchman has taken an avalanche of criticism over his formation but he was in no mood to change.
