Murdo claims victory in row over hate crime 'bias'

Veteran politician Murdo Fraser has declared a victory after reporting the force to the independent police watchdog. He was reported to cops under the SNP's hate crime legislation after criticising non-binary people.

He wrote on X: "Choosing to identify as 'non-binary' is as valid as choosing to identify as a cat. I'm not sure governments should be spending time on action plans for either."

While police decided to take no action, they logged a non-crime hate incident (NCHI) against his name.

Mr Fraser complained about this after it was revealed Humza Yousaf and JK Rowling didn't get the same treatment when numerous hate crime reports were made against them.
