GARDENER’S World star Monty Don has revealed his favourite way of eating homegrown cucumbers — and it has left furrowed brows among some of his fans.

- By Rebecca Jones

The 70-year-old TV presenter posted a photograph on Instagram of sliced cucumber sizzling in a pan, coated with a hefty amount of cream and butter.

Monty, who tends the impressive gardens at his home, Longmeadow in Herefordshire, captioned the post: “My favourite way to eat cucumber - quickly fried in butter and then a splash of cream, some salt, let bubble for a minute or so, sprinkle with fresh oregano and serve piping hot.”
