BRILLIANT Andrew Herbert is creating a new life for himself in a home stuffed with Wallace & Gromit-style inventions after being diagnosed with motor neurone disease.
Ingenious dad-of-two Andrew believes necessity is the mother of invention
They range from Al-powered cameras to monitor his ventilator overnight to the motorised contraption that rolls back his duvet while playing the Aardman heroes' theme tune.
Andrew, who was diagnosed with the neurological condition that attacks nerves in the brain and spinal cord in 2022, said: “Necessity is the mother of invention. When I'm sitting here, I have plenty of time to think about how I can solve problems.”
The 55-year-old ran and cycled including a weekly 64-mile round trip to work until he noticed he was getting weaker four years ago.
