The Jambos had won their first six competitive games of the season under their new manager but were beaten on penalties by St Mirren in Saturday's last-16 tie. Hearts drew level in Paisley through Oisin McEntee after Alex Gogic opened the scoring and despite enjoying the lion's share of possession they failed to make their pressure count.
