SNP dealt another major blow as new poll reveals public's despair over party

- By David Walker

THE SNP has been dealt yet another major blow following on from a week of negative press.

A new poll has revealed that a majority of Scots think that the Scottish Government is performing poorly across most public services.

Concerns about immigration and the failing NHS were the top worries for Scots.

The Survation poll for Scotland in Union found that at least 50% believe the government is performing "not well" across a range of important devolved issues. These include education (50% not well compared with 43% well) and the NHS (56% negative to 39%).

But the economy and jobs were ranked worse - 58% negative compared with 35% who said the SNP were doing well.

Immigration was rated second most important issue behind the NHS (57%), with 29% citing energy bills as highest priority.

Scottish independence ranked seventh out of 15 at just 14%. It came behind economy and jobs, tax levels and crime and policing.

Critics insisted that the survey of more than 2,000 Scots proved people were "sick and tired" after 18 years of SNP rule.
