MANCHESTER UNITED put one foot in the Europa League final with their finest display of Ruben Amorim’s troubled tenure.

Europa League games at home, were supposed to present the biggest threat to United’s unbeaten run in the competition.

United have endured their worst Premier League campaign, currently languishing in 14th place in the table, but have proved formidable in Europe and dazzled once again last night.

Casemiro set them on their way to victory with a header, then two goals from skipper Bruno Fernandes helped United race to a 3-0 lead by half-time.

With Bilbao down to 10 men after the 35th-minute dismissal of defender Dani Vivian, United cruised through the remainder of the game, with next week’s return leg at Old Trafford surely a formality.
