THE position of Angela Constance as Justice Secretary is under threat after Scottish Government evidence showed that she misled MSPs.

- DAVID WALKER

'LIAR' CONSTANCE MUST QUIT OVER COVER-UP

The veteran Nat Minister failed to show up in the Holyrood debate to defend her position last night as opposition parties urged her to resign before she is sacked.

The secretive SNP executive was accused of a “contemptuous cover-up” by former Scots Tory leader Douglas Ross, who said it was “black and white” that Ms Constance has “not told the truth”.

And Scottish Labour MP Joani Reid said the Justice Secretary had “misrepresented Alexis Jay’s views and then doubled down on the falsehoods”.

She added: “The test is now one for John Swinney. Is he so weak he will not remove Ms Constance and rid himself of a minister who is little better than a liar?”

The government initially refused to publish any correspondence between Ms Constance and grooming gang expert Professor Alexis Jay. However, it was then released unexpectedly as MSPs were preparing to leave work for the evening.
