Football greats turn out for memorial to Scotland legend Denis

FOOTBALL greats including Sir Alex Ferguson attended a memorial service for Scotland and Manchester United legend Denis Law in the late striker’s home city of Aberdeen.

Law passed away in January aged 84.

Sir Alex was joined at the city’s St Machar's Cathedral by former Manchester United stars Gary Neville, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Bryan Robson and Jonny Evans, as well as Aberdeen great Willie Miller in the 200-strong congregation from the football world.

Law’s sons and daughter and representatives of the Denis Law Legacy Trust were at the special event organised by Aberdeen University.

Law is the only Scottish player to win the Ballon d’Or - European football’s top honour - and helped United become the first English club to secure the European Cup in 1968.
