KILMARNOCK defender Robbie Deas was raging to see a point against Celtic ripped away by VAR.

- By Craig Swan

However, despite his sense of injustice, the 25-year-old is not among those critics who would prefer to see the technology done away with completely.

Killie were left devastated when referee John Beaton awarded the champions an injury-time spot-kick at Rugby Park on Sunday following an intervention from VAR.

Deas had blocked a James Forrest shot, only for the ball to deflect onto the arm of teammate Lewis Mayo at close range. VAR deemed Mayo’s arm was in an unnatural position.

Debutant Kelechi Iheanacho duly stepped up and buried his spot-kick to give the Hoops a 2-1 victory.

Killie manager Stuart Kettlewell was seething afterwards, and Deas said: “It’s a big sickener. I’ve seen it back and I don’t understand how it’s been given.
