Kelechi: I can make big impact

CELTIC saviour Kelechi Iheanacho insists he can spark into life and make his critics eat their words.

- By Michael Gannon

The new Hoops striker, below, made an instant impact with his nerves-of-steel stoppage-time spot-kick against Kilmarnock on Sunday to secure a 2-1 victory.

Former Manchester City and Leicester star Iheanacho insists his debut goal is just the start and he's convinced he can crack it with the Celts after being written off on the back of difficult spells in Spain with Sevilla and Middlesbrough in the English Championship.

He said: "As a football player you get this all the time. When it's not going well you just need to be strong.

"It's a professional game, so you need to just focus and keep doing the work.

"When it clicks you just keep going and get there. It's a great opportunity for me here, to come to this club and try to make that impact.

"Going forward I think it will give me the confidence to show my quality for the club."
