Jab hope in pancreatic cancer fight

PANCREATIC cancer patients have been given fresh hope after a breakthrough vaccine appeared to slow down the disease and increase survival chances.

Researchers described the findings as “remarkable” and have already started testing the jab among a larger group of patients.

The drug ELI-002 2P is a new type of immunotherapy vaccine designed specifically to target the lymph nodes, which act as filters for foreign substances in the body including cancer cells and infections.

Study leader Dr Zev Wainberg, from the University of California, said: “Pancreatic cancer patients, even after all standard treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation, still have very high risks of the cancer coming back.
