THE first photo ever to capture an Eastern quoll glowing in response to ultraviolet light in its natural habitat is one of 12 finalists in a wildlife photo competition.

Photographer Ben Alldridge used specialised UV-sensitive techniques in the image, called The Magic Rat and His Slick Machine, to showcase the endangered marsupial in its native Tasmania.
