Husband in charity ride for team who saved his wife

THE grateful husband of a woman hillwalker who was rescued off a Sutherland peak is to cycle 260 miles to raise money for the mountain heroes who saved her.

Fred and Susan McCaig, both in their 50s, were descending 2,365ft-high Ben Stack, which is on Reay Forest Estate, owned by the Duke of Westminster.

But at about 1,300 feet up on the western slopes of the peak, Mrs McCaig had a fall and subsequently learned she had broken her ankle in three places.
