House prices in Scotland up by 5.4%

SCOTLAND'S house prices were among the fastest risers in the last year, when the average UK home hit £300,000 for the first time.

In the 12 months to January, the average home in Scotland rose to £221,711, according to Halifax — up by 5.4%, just short of highest performer, Northern Ireland, at 5.9%.
