'Hold summit to take on organised crime'
Scottish Daily Express
|April 19, 2025
JOHN SWINNEY should hold a summit on tackling organised crime rather than the so-called far right, the Scottish Tory leader has said.
The call follows violent incidents in Edinburgh and Glasgow linked to a gang feud, with Russell Findlay saying the SNP government must ensure police are properly resourced to track down all those responsible.
In recent weeks, shots have been fired at buildings and a number of properties have been set on fire in and around both cities.
ViolenceThe incidents are reportedly linked to a long-running feud between the infamous Daniel and Lyons families and their associates – with the latter family purportedly being backed by the Kinahan cartel.
Mr Findlay is a former investigative journalist who was once targeted in an acid attack after writing about organised crime.
He is better informed about the murky Scottish underworld than any MSP since Labour MSP Graeme Pearson, who was a former Director General of the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency.
