HIGHLAND POLICE LACK MODERN FINGERPRINT GEAR

POLICE Scotland has been told to take urgent action after a review found officers at some police stations still take fingerprints using ink and paper.

The outdated systems were discovered at a review of stations across the Highlands and Islands known as N Division - by HM Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMICS) and Healthcare Improvement Scotland (HIS).

They found that instead of using modern fingerprint scanning technology, officers in Orkney, Shetland, the Western Isles and Fort William, still take fingerprints using ink and paper.
