Government is 'strangling the economy'
Scottish Daily Express
|November 24, 2025
SCORES of lifeblood firms say they have turned their backs on Labour, because the Government is “strangling the life out of the economy”.
Crippled by tax rises, two thirds of bosses say they have been negatively impacted by national insurance and minimum wage increases, leaving some worried if they can stay afloat.
Most admitted they would not back Labour if a snap election was called.
MyWorkwear questioned 128 business chiefs fearing what may be revealed in Wednesday’s Budget.
Shadow Chancellor Sir Mel Stride said: “Rachel Reeves’ very first Budget introduced a £25billion jobs tax that made it more expensive for businesses to hire. Despite saying she’d wiped the slate clean and wasn’t coming back for more, more tax rises loom.”
