FM under fire over domestic abuse bill

JOHN SWINNEY has been blasted for deciding not to back plans to ensure all domestic abusers are put on a register.

He has been accused of letting down the victims.

Scottish Tory MSP Pam Gosal has brought forward a member’s bill which would introduce notification requirements for certain people convicted of domestic abuse offences, similar to those for registered sex offenders.

Offenders would have to tell the police of change of address or supply passport details.

Courts would be able to order an assessment of the suitability of an offender for rehabilitation or behaviour change programmes.
