'Fishing sector must not become casualty of green push'
Scottish Daily Express
|November 15, 2025
THE Scottish Government has been warned its push for green energy risks destroying the fishing industry.
The SNP's push for net zero has led to thousands of onshore and offshore wind turbines being constructed, with hundreds more in development, while campaigners have accused the government of overruling local authorities over developments, giving energy companies a free pass.
On a visit to Peterhead to open the party's regional conference, Scottish Tory leader Russell Findlay warned fishermen cannot become a casualty of "green energy obsession", adding 32 offshore wind projects have been approved since 2022. And a further 32 marine zones around the coast have been identified for development.
