Firm fined £500k over machine fall horror

A PACKAGING firm has been fined nearly £500,000 after a worker was hit on the head by a machine he was helping to move and suffered a fractured skull.

Matthew King, 39, was injured as he tried to manoeuvre equipment at Multi Packaging Solutions Ltd's factory in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire.

The 4.5-tonne machine had been raised by a forklift driver but it suddenly slid off and struck him in October 2023.

Mr King was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment. He suffered nerve damage to the left-hand side of his face and has no control over his left eye.
