Mother is 'devastated' by loss of her son

- By Richard Elias

THE family of a man who died after being found injured on a city street have said they are “devastated”.

Police Scotland are now treating the incident in Aberdeen as “suspicious” following a postmortem examination.

Austin Ironside was found injured on Skene Street at around 3.10pm last Sunday.

The 25-year-old, above, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but died from his injuries on Tuesday.

Infectious

In a statement issued through police, Mr Ironside’s family paid tribute to him, describing him as “popular, with friends across the city”.

His mother, Angela Wilson, has also launched a GoFundMe page to help pay for his funeral costs.

The statement read: “Austin was popular, with friends across the city and would do anything to help others.

“He was always smiling and his infectious laugh brought light into the lives of everyone who knew him. We are all devastated by what has happened and would like privacy at this terrible time.”
