Family mourns tree tragedy Leonna, 7

THE family of a seven-year-old girl who died after a tree collapsed in a park say she had a “heart full of love and a mind full of endless ideas”.

Leonna Ruka was killed and four other children injured in Chalkwell Park, Southend, Essex, on Saturday. She had been visiting family and was enjoying the warm weather, police said.

Despite members of the public rushing to try to lift the tree, and the efforts of emergency services shortly afterwards, Leonna, from Dagenham, East London, died.
