Drunk mobility scooter rider charged under Victorian law

A WOMAN who drunkenly drove a mobility scooter the wrong way on a dual carriageway has been prosecuted under a little-used Victorian law.

Fiona Buckingham, 57, was pulled over by police following multiple reports from drivers who had been forced to swerve to avoid her as she trundled towards oncoming traffic.

She was drinking a bottle of wine when officers arrived at the scene on the A14 in Kettering, Northants, on August 25.

Her 8mph scooter and trailer had no lights or number plate.
