Climate change has put UK's way of life 'under threat' from extreme weather

Warning to take action, says Miliband

BRITAIN’S way of life is “under threat” as heatwave and rainfall extremes become common due to climate change, Energy Secretary Ed Miliband has warned.

In a report to be released today, Met Office experts said the country’s climate is “notably different” from just a few decades ago.

For the first time, its annual report found UK sea levels are rising, while the nation is getting wetter, with extremes of rainfall, floods and storms in 2024.

Mr Miliband called the findings “a stark warning” to take action, adding: “Our British way of life is under threat. Whether it is extreme heat, droughts or flooding, we can see it actually with our own eyes, that it’s already happening.
