CROSSBOW killer Kyle Clifford will become Britain's most expensive prisoner — costing taxpayers many millions for his whole-life incarceration.

Clifford's lifetime in prison will make him most expensive inmate

The triple murderer is paralysed from the waist down after shooting himself with a crossbow bolt moments before he was arrested for slaying his ex-girlfriend Louise Hunt, 25, her sister Hannah, 28, and mother Carol, 61.

Due to his complex health needs the 26-year-old is entitled to an extensive health and social care programme that will send the cost to the public soaring.

The average annual cost of keeping someone in jail is £55,000 — putting Clifford's care for the next 60 years at £3.3million at current prices.

But he will also need additional daily care from a medical team of doctors, nurses, occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Care staff may also be needed to help him with basic activities such as getting out of bed, washing and using the toilet.
