Can't Beet our classic heirloom

THERE'S roughly a 20-year age gap between myself and my co-host on GMB last week, Ranvir Singh (and you don't need me to tell you which one of us is the oldest).

It's not that big a difference but sometimes two decades can represent a gulf wider than the Grand Canyon.

We were interviewing Chesney Hawkes (who had a monster hit with The One And Only 30-odd years ago) and he handed me a cassette tape of his latest album. Cassettes are the latest retro music fashion statement, along with vinyl records, but Ranvir smiled. "What are you going to listen to that on?" she laughed. "Who has a cassette player these days?"

Er... I do. Or rather, my wife does on the dashboard console of her little VW Beetle. Ranvir was astonished.
