'Bonkers' plan by Greens to tackle drugs

THE Scottish Greens said it wants to decriminalise drugs in a move which critics branded “bonkers”.

The madcap plan was overwhelmingly approved at the party's annual conference yesterday.

Instead, the far-left group wants a drug regulation system which offers “support rather than stigma” to drug users.

But last night the Scottish Conservatives dismissed the suggestion out-of-hand.

The party’s drugs spokeswoman Annie Wells said: “These bonkers proposals illustrate how reckless and dangerous the Scottish Greens are.

“Legalising drugs would do nothing to help people who are already struggling with addiction issues.”
