A PENSIONER has gone on trial accused of stalking a BBC Scotland broadcast journalist.

- BY CONNOR GORDON

Robert Green allegedly harassed Anne McAlpine for almost four years.

The 70-year-old faces a charge of engaging in conduct which caused the journalist fear and alarm.

It is claimed the OAP repeatedly sent letters, poems, cards and gifts for Ms McAlpine, 39, to the BBC Scotland headquarters in Glasgow's Pacific Quay, as well as to her home.

Green is also said to have turned up at her property uninvited, loitered outside and asked to come in.

The trial heard from Ms McAlpine yesterday, who gave evidence remotely from another room in court.

She recalled one incident on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, when she was dropped off at home by a colleague at about 11pm.

Ms McAlpine stated that she saw a man with a carrier bag looking towards the group of flats where she lives. She claimed that he approached the car as she was getting out of the vehicle.

Ms McAlpine said: "As he came closer to the car, I closed the door and told my colleague to lock the doors.
