Anger over SNP secret fund to push for Scottish independence

A freedom of information request by the Scottish Daily Express revealed discussions between officials about the media reports which claimed that independence funding had been scrapped due to the Scottish Lib Dems.

Notes written for SNP ministers in January by bureaucrats showed them hitting out at the Press, and admitted that funding for Scexit was still being budgeted for.

The notes said: “As in previous years, there is no dedicated budget line for ‘independence’ work. Any suggestion therefore that the budget for independence work has been changed is inaccurate.
