AI speeds up checks for prostate disease

ARTIFICIAL intelligence could be used to diagnose prostate cancer in revolutionary “one-stop shops”, the NHS has announced.
A major trial will involve 15 hospitals piloting the use of AI to interpret MRI scans in a matter of minutes, potentially resulting in the illness being diagnosed within days.
If the technology identifies a high risk of cancer, the scan will be sent to a radiologist for priority review and the patient booked in for a biopsy on the same day.
