Shabalala working hard to fire Chiefs into Top 3

SOME Kaizer Chiefs players are gearing up to finish the season on a high and secure a third-place finish in the Betway Premiership, believing they are in the right mindset to help the team.

- MIHLALI BALEKA

Chiefs will face Magesi FC in their 20th league game of the season at Moses Mabhida Stadium today (6pm kickoff).

It is a match they want to win at all costs as they look to build momentum after a 1-0 victory over Durban City FC in their last game, which ended a four-game losing streak.

For Amakhosi to achieve that goal, they need to be balanced: keeping another clean sheet while being more clinical in attack. So far, however, they have lacked potency, failing to convert chances.

Attacker Mduduzi Shabalala has been one of the more wasteful players in front of goal, resulting in inconsistency and his omission from the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming World Cup preparation matches against Panama in Durban and Cape Town.

Shabalala has been working hard to regain form and return to scoring, including extra training sessions with former club striker Lehlohonolo Majoro.
