'President of Ama2000' is immune from fan criticism

Such is the nature of football that when a player is loved by most he just cannot do any wrong, can he?Take Relebohile Mofokeng for example. The Orlando Pirates youngster has come on to the local football scene like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stuffy environment. Such has been his impact on the domestic game that he is loved even by the fans of rival teams, Pirates’ archenemies Kaizer Chiefs included. And with good reason, too; for not in a very long time has someone so young captivated us as the youngster from the Vaal has.

Understandable then that there was a huge clamour for his inclusion in the country’s senior national team, Bafana Bafana. When coach Hugo Broos obliged and called “the president of ama2000”, only to use him sparingly as just about every experienced coach would to ensure the youngster is blooded properly, his fan base cried that he should be in the starting eleven. Now, Broos is too wily and experienced a coach to pander to the supporters’ whims like that.
