Ideals to live by in 2026

AS WE approach a new year with joy and expectation, we all yearn for a better world, and a peaceful and just future, with solutions to the current disputes and wars, and to problems caused by climate change.

A lingering question, however, is whether humanity, with its deep-rooted patterns of conflict, and short-sighted behaviour, will commit itself to enlightened cooperation and long-range planning and overcome the current global challenges? The realisation of our hopes and dreams for a better world, for a peaceful and prosperous future, in the Bahá'í view, will depend greatly on our unity as humanity the realisation that we all belong to one human family, only varied in the secondary aspects of life, and that we are all citizens of one planet, created by one Almighty Creator.

Bahá'u'lláh, the founder of the Bahá'í Faith, states: "So potent is the light of unity that it can illuminate the whole earth.
