2024-25 sees 6.5% GDP, slowest since pandemic

India’s economic growth slowed to 7.4 per cent in the January-March period (Q4), pulling down the annual growth rate for 2024-25 to a four-year low of 6.5 per cent, mainly because of the manufacturing sector, official data showed on Friday.

This is the slowest growth rate since the Covid-19 pandemic year of 2020-'21. In the financial year 2023-24, the country’s real gross domestic product was 9.2 per cent.
The size of the Indian economy rose to Rs 330.68 lakh crore, or about USD 3.9 trillion, and set the stage for achieving the USD 5 trillion target in the next few years.
